How do I determine my child`s age group? Use the
following matrix to determine your child`s age group:
What is the cost?
The registration fee is $85 per player (includes a team and individual player picture packet) and is due at registration. Your registration will not be considered complete until the registration is received. We also have a scholarship program for financially needy players - if you are interested in that please send an email to landparksoccer@gmail.com.
Each player also needs a Land Park Soccer uniform which you can purchase at Kombat Soccer in South Land Park for $25 (jersey, shorts, and socks). You can reuse the uniform multiple years. The uniform just needs to be acquired before the first game in early September.
Is there a priority for those who register early?
All players registered before 5/15 will be considered "on-time registrants" and placed on teams at the same time so there is no order of priority among on-time registrants. Late registrants are not guaranteed a spot so we highly encourage you to register during the on-time registration period (before 5/15).
Are the teams co-ed or gender-pure?
The Under 6 age bracketis co-ed and most teams are pretty evenly mixed. Player selection is up to the coach so a team may be gender-pure in this age bracket but most teams are mixed.
All other age brackets are gender-pure.
I forgot to print my CYSA (Form 1601) before I exited the online registration application. Where can I get another copy?
Log back into the registration site. You will see two tabs on the right hand side after you log in. One is labeled "Registration and Status". If you click on that link you will see each of the players that you registered with a link to your receipt and a link to the CYSA form for that player. You can log in and reprint either of these at any time. Then please make a copy of the CYSA form (or print two copies) before you sign them so they each have an original signature.
What if my child's birth certificate is not printed in English, or if I do not have my child's birth certificate?
Contact us ASAP for instructions. Leave a message at 743-5088 or e-mail landparksoccer@gmail.com.
Will my child be grouped with teammates of the same age? Our priority with team formation is for teams to be
"age pure." This means that within each age group we form first-year and second-year teams where all players on
the team have birthdays in the same "soccer year." For example, a first-year U10 team will have players who were
born between August 1, 2003 and July 31, 2004, and a second-year U10 team will have players who were born
between August 1, 2002 and July 31, 2003. However, depending on the number of players who register in each
age group, there are times when we have to place first-year players on second-year teams and vice versa.
Can my child play in a higher age group? While we generally discourage playing in a higher age group (known
as "playing up"), it may be appropriate for some players. Requests to play up will be reviewed on a case-by-case
basis. The club reserves the right to refuse such requests if we do not feel that it would be in the best interest of the player. In no case can a player play up more than one age group. U6 players may not play up unless they are
moving up to U8 to stay with the team they played for in the 2011 season.
Can my child play in a lower age group? No. Playing down is not permitted.
Why can you not guarantee that my child will be placed on the team we request? We do our best to honor
requests, but it is not always possible due to roster size limitations, age restrictions, and other factors. For example,
at U10 rosters are capped at 13 players. If more than 13 players request a particular U10 team, the coach will not
be able to take them all. In addition, players who were on a team last season who register during the regular
registration period have priority to return to that team. Only after accommodating all returning players can a coach
accept new players. Please be aware that not getting the team, coach, or teammates that you request does not
entitle you to a refund. Any player who we are able to place on any team is subject to our standard refund policy.
I am registering my child late, but he is a returning player. Is he still guaranteed a spot on his team from last
season? No. Only returning players who register during the regular registration period are guaranteed a spot on
their team from last season. Players who register late (after May 15) are placed on a waiting list and will be placed
on teams only after all players in the same age group who registered by May 15 have been accommodated.
When will we be notified about team placement? Coaches may begin to contact players as early as June 1 and
must notify all players of their team placement by June 30.
When are practices? Practices begin around August 1. Most teams practice twice a week, on either
Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays. Practices will be between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Younger teams
usually practice for an hour at a time; older teams often practice longer. Your coach will inform you of your practice
schedule when he or she calls to notify you about your team placement. We do not assign practice times until after
teams are formed, so we cannot accommodate requests for a particular practice schedule or location.
What equipment will my player need? Your player will need a league uniform, soccer cleats, shin guards, and a
water bottle. The league uniform is sold only by our approved vendor but may be worn more than one season.
(Please see the LPS website for more information on league uniforms.) The league uniform is to be worn at
games only. We strongly encourage players to bring their own ball to practices, but it is not required. If you do
purchase a ball, be sure to get the correct size. U6 and U8 players use a Size 3, U10 and U12 players use a Size
4, and U14 and up players use a Size 5.
